Meet Ariel

I gave birth to my first baby on July 15th, 2006 at the Letbridge Regional Hospital. For almost a month before my daughter’s arrival I had to go to the hospital every week to get stress tests and other tests run to make sure my baby was healthy. I got to know the nurses and many doctors very well. Sometimes I would be in a bad mood when I would come in for tests because it was a routine now and it seemed like nothing would ever change. The nurses would sit by my side and talk to me about what plans I had for my baby; what names I was thinking of; they really helped me get through it and it was really calming to know that these women dealt with babies and mothers everyday.

The night of july 12 I got a call from Dr. Herbert telling me that it looked like my baby hadn’t been growing very much for that month and they didn’t want to take any risks with our lives, so she told me to come in to give birth. When I arrived they had a private room for me. They had a few nurses come in and explain everything that was going to happen and what to expect. They indused me and we waited and waited. Eventually the doctors made the choice to take me to the operating room. My Daughter Ariel Jose was born one month early weighing 4 lbs 10oz and had to stay in the NICU for two weeks. It would have been longer if it weren’t for some really kind nurses that were patient with me in teaching me what to do and how to nurse and hold her. Thank you so much everyone for all of your help and for the work you do every day for mothers just like me. P.S. Your Christmas card is in the mail.
