Meet Wesley
Wesley Chance was born in May, 1985. He was born two monts early due to RH factor conplications. Wes spent time in the NICU in Lethbridge after being transfered there from a larger city. Our family lives in Taber so we were so happy to have out little preemie being cared for in Lethbridge which was closer to our hometown. Because of Wes' delicate health any physical stimulation, including touch was previously discouraged. It was in Lethbridge that I was first allowed to nurse my baby boy and give him his first bath from mommy as he was too weak to be handled or nursed at an earlier age. With the help and care of the NICU staff I was finally allowed to bond with my son. With mothers milk and TLC Wes grew quickly and bridged the gap with others his age. By age 4 Wes was the same size as his brother Mitch who was two years older and by age 14 he was significantly bigger and has often been mistaken as the eldest of the two brothers.
Wes was given the middle name of Chance because we knew that he would be the last chance for us to have a child and his start in life was full of chances but the reward of a wonderful son was well worth the trials and all has worked out well.
- As told by Mrs. Laura Jensen
